Full-Arch Dental Implants: Planning, Temporaries, and Healing

Understanding Full-Arch Dental Implants

Full-arch treatment can replace many missing or failing teeth with a restoration supported by several implants. The number and positions of implants depend on your anatomy, bite, oral health, and treatment goals. An examination and appropriate imaging help determine whether this approach is suitable for you.

Can Temporary Teeth Be Attached Soon After Surgery?

Some patients may receive a fixed provisional bridge soon after implant placement, sometimes within 24–48 hours. This is called immediate loading. It depends on factors such as implant stability, bone support, the bite, and the overall treatment plan; it cannot be promised before surgery.

If immediate loading is not appropriate, Dr. Emmy will discuss another temporary option and a sequence that supports healing. A provisional restoration may be made from PMMA and adjusted as needed while the implants integrate with the bone.

What the Provisional Phase Can Tell Us

The temporary teeth help the team assess appearance, speech, bite, comfort, and cleaning access before the final restoration is designed. You will receive instructions about diet and care during healing, and follow-up visits allow concerns to be addressed.

Healing and the Final Restoration

Implants need time to integrate with the jawbone. Healing and restorative timing vary by patient and may take several months. Dr. Emmy will assess implant stability and the health of the surrounding tissues before planning the final bridge.

A zirconia restoration may be an option after healing. Material choice, design, repairability, cleaning access, and cost should be discussed for your case. No restoration is maintenance-free, and long-term outcomes depend on health, home care, follow-up, and other factors.

Who May Be a Candidate?

People missing most or all teeth, or facing extensive dental problems, may consider full-arch implants. Some patients need additional treatment or a different restorative approach. Bone volume, medical conditions, medication use, smoking, and the condition of remaining teeth can affect the plan.

Questions to Ask at Your Consultation

  • Which teeth can be maintained, and what alternatives are available?
  • How many implants are proposed, and why?
  • Is a fixed provisional bridge likely to be appropriate for me?
  • What is included in the estimate, and what could change it?
  • How will I clean the restoration and maintain it over time?

Full-mouth implants start at $12,000 at Coconut Creek Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry. The team will explain the scope of your individualized estimate after evaluation. Call (954) 642-2203 to request a consultation.

Will I receive fixed teeth within 24 hours?
Some patients can receive a fixed temporary bridge soon after implant placement, sometimes within 24–48 hours. The decision depends on implant stability and clinical findings. A different temporary plan may be safer for others.

Are temporary teeth the final restoration?
No. A provisional bridge is used during healing and may be adjusted before a final restoration is planned.

How long does treatment take?
Healing and final-restoration timing vary. Your dentist will review the proposed sequence and follow-up visits for your case.

How long do implants last?
Longevity varies. Implants and restorations require daily care and professional maintenance, and repairs or replacement can be needed.
